Selective identification of newly synthesized proteins is challenging because all proteins, both existing and nascent, have the same amino acid pool and are therefore chemically indistinguishable [1]. L-Homopropargylglycine (HPG) is an amino acid analog of methionine that contains a very small modification. The alkyne moiety of HPG incorporates into protein during the protein synthesis and tags protein with chemoselective fluorescence by click chemical reaction between azide and alkyne [1-3].
